Thursday 21st July 2005 8:00am Under 12s vs Hanvikens SK 1 (2-0) An nice early start. Hit the trams at 7:00 to get to the Kviberg pitches. Our first playoff match so it's do or die from now on... Hanvikens were a tough wee side. We learned that they were an ice hockey side that also played soccer. They looked big to start with but they played a clean game of football. In the end a 2-0 victory as the form book predicted. Match Photos The Under 19s joined the Under 12s for breakfast, the poor wee, undernourished souls... 1:15pm Under 12s vs FC Cafe Opera (2-1) Our second playoff match... Some stiffer opposition but the form book predicted that we should still go through (as indeed we did). See the photos 5:30pm Under 12s vs Näsets SK 2 (2-1) On a pitch so far south it was almost off the map of Gothenburg. A tram ride followed by a bus ride. Whilst waiting for the bus we met a London team called Village Club and then we met our friends the Eagle Elite gilrls team from the US. Ellen, Roxanne and all the girls were coming back from their match that they had won that afternoon. If they would win their match later this evening and we win this Näsets match then we're both through to the quarter finals tomorrow morning... This was the "four seasons in one day" match. We arrived in scorching sunshine. Soon it was cold and raining - then scorching again. Who'd be a weather man in Gothenburg? Boys were understandably tired and were a goal down at half time. Des said that if we scored early in the second half, we could go on to do it. 30 seconds into the second half, Curtis produced a wee bit of magic with a cheeky back heel into the Swedish net, tails were up and off we went. Curtis popped up to double his tally and the Boro' rolled on. A tiring day but everyone went back to the hotel knowing that we were playing football on the Friday. A game to be remembered for Gary Elliott's forays into the Vietnamese style jungle that surrounded the pitch to retrieve the ball. He wound up on a golf course at one point... We were supported by the Under 19s for every match today. Thanks very much William, Jake, Simon, Mark and the lads. Match Photos |
